The Marine Biotechnology and Bioinformatics program was established in 2004 and ran summer workshops annually for five years. The program was expanded in size and scope in 2006. In addition to multi-year projects, program staff have participated in special programs such as an all-day workshop for middle school students and their parents through the Center for Talented Youth (CTY) in November 2002 and a field-based workshop for the National Marine Educators Association (NMEA) in July 2009.
